Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP and FFDP) is an American groove metal band formed in 2005 in Los Angeles, California by Zoltan Bathory, a guitarist of Hungarian origin, in the past - bassist UPO In addition to Bathory, the band includes former Motograter and Ghost Machine vocalist Ivan Moody, drummer Jeremy Spencer, bassist Chris Cale and guitarist Jason Hook.

According to vocalist Ivan Moody, the band's name is taken from a Quentin Tarantino film, but the original source was a 70s kung fu movie.
